In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My media film is in now way conventional becuase the end of the movie is shown at the start with various bits of the dy before cut into it to create and build up a amount of tension. Also instead of the usual predicatble settings of horror films such as abonded houses, woods, dark/dust times of the day mine is the opposite. The setting is inside a normal estate and is told though the eye witness reoprts of a unnamed man. Also the setting is filmed during the middle of the day to help to push the normal conventional traps that many horror films fall into. Also becuase of the short clips of a man running away from a unnamed source which is cut into the scnene it leaves the auidance to think weather this is the mans memmory of the previous night or something more sinister.
How does your media group represent particular social groups?
The main charator in the flim is never fully seen which could challage the normal effects of the movie it helps the audiance to beilve that they are infact the charator themselfs and are going through this ordeal alone, the problem with never seeing the charators face though is that the audiance may not be able to relate to the anti-hero portayed in this film, You also never see the main charators hands or feet in the flim which makes you question if you are really following someone or if the your a ghost.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My film would proberly be distrubuted though a independant film company in a straight to dvd option. This would be because it is nethier a summer blockbuster and if shown in cinema would have poor box office returns. Mainly due to the fact that the main charator is never fully seen there is nothing for the audiance to relate to.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
My audiance for my product would proberly be eagar horror film fans. Such ages are 16-25 market because they are more highly likey to vist the cinema if it was ever released as opposised to the latter 26-35 market. The 16-25 market are used to watching movies with unusal themes and unconvential movies.
How did u attract/address your audience?
I attracted my audiance firstly though the use of a horror theme, The clips introduced into the movie help to increase the tension and suspense of the movie. The unconvential means that the movie is made will also help to attract a audiance to the movie because many are becoming bored of the convential genertic horror films relaesed each year. The second major thign to attrct the audiance would be the use of my soundtrack, What ive done by linken park this would help box office returns because it is a popular band and song, also the start of the song helps to build suspense thoguhout the movie.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Many of the technologies i have learnt from media are the ability to edit my films though the use of pinnical, this skill was very helpful during my editing process because it helps to cut the short second clips into the rest of the movie. I also learnt about abusing the soundtrack to my won will through pinnical and this helps me to mute it at certian times through the movie and help create suspense. There are also other tips i have learnt such as transistions and slow motion effects which can alter the tone and theme of the movie enormously.
Looking back from your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
When i look back at my preliminary it looks unproffesional compared to my final product, this is beacuse it is generic and lacks any complex camera angles or techiniques such as the handheld camera i used mainly in my film to help make the audiance feel uneasy. Also the sound used in my prelim is raw and unedited, in my final product i have been able to clear out unwanted noises and make a richer scene.
