Research into camera angles
Although this scene is nothing related to horror movies but it is a good example of the fast cuts and variuos camera angles used in the show, as most of the images shown are distorted or sped up or down to create a unusal effect. There is a lot of distortion used in the shot along with various fast cuts and cameras on tilts to create a suspense and tension that the rest of the show sets.
Example Horror Openings
This scene is the opening to "the hills have eyes" a horror movie where mutants kill passers by in the desert.
The opening of the movie starts with a black screen showing writing about the a-bomb tests that america conducted. The sound played at this part is non-diagetic warning beeping sounds as if a bomb was about to be launched.
The camera then pans to the new mexico desert giving a establishing shot for the film. The camera then follows the stream downwards showing that life may still exsit in this desert. Two charators are reveled in a longshot, fishing debrie out of the river, the costumes imediatly show that necular radiation is present and that they are proberly scientists. Another establishing shot is used to show that more of the goverment scientist are around and gives the feeling of suspense that someone is watching them. Other shots are used to build up the feeling of suspense and then the camera shifts into a 1st person perspective so that the audiance can effectivly relate to the charators The only sound to be heard in this scene is people walking, the keigher counter and the vitims breatheing.
A longshot is used when a disabled surivour jumps at one of the scientsts in help and cowars away as a close up shot is used as a axe is driven in the back of the head of one of the charators, the camera then shows the body hitting the ground to make sure the audiance is sure that hes dead. Various fast cuts and screams are used as the 2nd charator is killed and the camera makes sure to obscure the killer to help increase mystery and suspense. A Close up shot on the victims jeep pans out to revel the 4 vitims tied together like a hunter would tie up deer and drag them along, this is used 2 help distance the audiance with the killer.
In the next screen you see a 1930's advert with a woman blowing out candes as a stark compasion to the previous seen, a then non-diagetic soundtrack of a 1930 country singer is heard as pictures of atomic bomb expolsions are shown with pictures of the "mutants" cut into it.

Research into horror movie
This is a still of 28 days later just after the infection has spread. I chose this picture as some potential research for my project because it is helpful towards a horror movie project. All the charators in the shot are covered in shadow because it shows the contast to the rest of the good charators if they were on the screen as bad charators are generally pictures as black to white compasion. The night also helps to ceate a errie effect as you can cleary see the fog aianst the moonlight night increasing the suspense of the shot.
The props used in the seen are cars and abonded factorys to help to show the destruction of the country.
Hello, my names Zac Vout and welcome to my blog.
This blog is for my media coursework and i will be leaving a post at least once a week to talk about my research and other courseowrk related probles and how i over came them.
I will produce a movie trailer for a horror film and will show the research that will end up leading me towards the movie production.
